Meghan Rivard
Meghan Rivard believes therapy is the process of tapping into reservoirs of strength and resilience inherent in every person. She endeavors to provide a safe and nurturing space in which you can unpack your life experiences to discover meaning and find wholeness. She believes you are the expert of your lived experience and that your feelings are an invaluable tool for self-awareness.
Meghan sees her role as a therapist as witness and guide. Her mission is to see and hear your authentic self and offer counsel as you move through life’s challenges. With compassionate reflection and thoughtful insight, she helps facilitate growth by overcoming obstacles and discovering individualized solutions. Through respectful and mutual collaboration and partnership, you’ll explore what works and what doesn’t in order to develop new ways of being and believing to improve the quality of your life.
Meghan’s style of therapy is deeply rooted in humanistic theory which prizes the value of one’s unique lived experience. Integrated with principles from psychodynamic theory, multiculturalism, attachment theory, and contemporary science regarding trauma, she employs techniques from approaches like motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and solutions-focused therapy.
Meghan has a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, working toward her Illinois licensure. She is working under the supervision of Dr. Lisa Campbell, licensed clinical psychologist, and sees people with BCBS PPO or who self-pay. She works with individual adults across the lifespan, especially those experiencing challenges including anxiety, depression, life/career transitions, spiritual concerns, and recovery from trauma. As a sex positive and LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist, she welcomes and encourages the exploration of gender, sexuality, and identity.
When not sitting with clients, Meghan feeds her soul with friendship, watercolor painting, needle felting, culinary arts, studying the stars, reading non-fiction, watching old television shows, and looking for her next favorite coffee mug.
